Technology as Teaching - Aid

During the summer I taught Global II to a heterogeneous mixed of students. They all came with different levels of proficiency. Needless to say, it was quite challenging. Until I invested in a projector, a laptop, and some powerful speakers. I borrowed a friend’s camcorder and started shooting my students in action. I had them dramatize a Mongol invasion, complete timelines with their bodies, and so forth. Essentially, they were all willing to ‘work’ for the camera. Later I burn the performance on CD and had them critique their work. They really enjoyed summer school. One comedian said that he failed so that I could teach him.

Besides that though, technology is great for virtual tours, multimedia presentation, film or movie viewing, and of course Regents review. Quite frankly, the Regents review available online is an excellent way to hone in certain skills for the real exam.
